Herb garden
April 6th, 2011Chilli season!
April 6th, 2011The seedlings are coming along well. There’s 2 varieties here; “prairie fire” and… an unknown one. I have 6 other varieties coming from a Dorset chilli farm at the end of the month ranging from sweet to extreme.
I don’t think we have the windowsill space needed to keep all these plants. Therefore I am considering the purchase of a mini greenhouse! This is a cheap polythene contraption that will allow my hot little friends to live outdoors.
Preparation for the BBQ season is well underway!
John.
Happy new year!
December 28th, 2010We are entering our second week off for the festive season. Time off is great.
The Saturday before Christmas was the annual Powburn Christmas dinner. Andrea and I went up in the morning and spent the day cooking. This was our third year being responsible for the catering and we are getting pretty efficient at it. The one problem came when I tried to make the pudding and realised there is custard powder… and instant custard. I had bought the former which requires milk. I didn’t have milk. Yellow translucent custard aside it all went well. Until the morning when Andrea found she no longer had her phone but that is another story…
Christmas itself was great. Christmas eve night and Christmas day morning we were in touch with the NZ crew and doing a phone based present opening event. Chrsitmas day was at Udberg seniors and we finished the day with a visit to number 13 and the Maughans. Good times.
I have put some pictures from November and December in the gallery. Some are from my phone. New years resolution 1: use my camera more again….
Best wishes for 2011 everyone.
John and Andrea.
EDIT: A few pics from the Summer are now up too… August and September.
Half term
November 6th, 2010We’ve been back to work a week now so it is becoming a distant memory but we both had half term off. We started with a couple of nights away in Ayr which was surprisingly large. Andrea was a bit gutted to have only found out “Jamie Afro” was at a local club the morning after his performance. unlucky.
After that we had a quiet week. Andrea did some work and I built my new file server, fun times all round!
The week was finished off in style for me, witnessing first hand the 5-1 demolition of the Mackems. Best game I’ve ever been too…
Photo’s from October start here.
Hope everyone is well and happy… downhill to Christmas now.
John and Andrea.
