Jen’s 30th
It was Jen’s 30th birthday yesterday, with a surfing lesson and a BBQ to mark the occasion. Predictably, with outside events organised, the weather was terrible but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit.
Pictures start here with with one of Jen’s new kittens and go on to show some of the surfing action. I didn’t take part but instead got the chance to try out a telezoom lens borrowed from Jen to record the extreme wave riding (!) going on.
After the action (and a quick shower…) we headed round to their place for a birthday barby. It was great to meet Jen and Ryan’s friends that had traveled from far and wide. The food was good too. We brought along a pass the parcel present that contained enough party products to sink a small ship … and that was great fun.
We met up again today on the beach with the people who had traveled up here for the birthday and Ryan broke out his extreme kites. The large kite proved to be a little too extreme in the strong winds and dragged Ryan a good few feet. Haha!
Andrea is busy writing her end of year reports, thanks to those who have sponsored her so far for the run!

Happy Birthday Jen. A Birthday Barby eh? That reminds me of the girl who was entertaining the English Rugby Team in Aucland last weekend, her name was “Angel Barby” - perhaps a distant relative? Or Not! It is not surfing weather here! Snow in the south. Luv to you all.

What on Earth are you talking about Dad?
Is this the acts of dubiousness allegedly partaken in by the English rugby team?
Well, can you blame them?
Kiwi girls are irresistible…ha ha!
Seriously Uncle Ant…the North Sea is very forgiving to the intrepid surfer!
Am feeling the itch to get back in there.
3 and a half weeks to go….woo hoo!
Bring it on!
Luv us x

I’ll be dusting down the old barbie ready for the big party
Just have to hope that this lousy weather improves, talk about flaming June
Never mind, I’m sure there’s going to be a big improvement when Mike and Gail arrive
We might even tempt them to have a dip in the North Sea

Thanks Andrea and John for a great birthday weekend!
Our Aussie neighbours helped us bbq in the rain, commited or what!?
We are looking forward to getting back into the North Sea. Must say it’s not as cold as you think it is
Love Jen & Ryan
