York treat
We went to York last weekend for a ‘mini-break’. The sun was shining, Newcastle got a decent result and York was pretty… good weekend all round!
Photo’s can be seen here. The Cathedral and Shambles (narrow streets…) were impressive. We drove up Saturday morning, spent the afternoon looking round the city then retreated to our hotel near the racecourse. It had a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room
After much relaxation we headed off to a local pub to watch the game. It only takes a few trips around the UK to realise how consolidated the public house industry is getting… the ‘local’ in York was the same as our local, The Gunner. After watching the toon battle to a draw we went in search of food. It wasn’t until we were seated in the other pub in the area that we realised it was the same chain as Cramlingtons Snowy Owl, the place we dined but three nights previously. Luckily they do good food… in big portions.
This weekend has been a bit quieter. Friday we watched Beth’s stunning thespian performance in the Newcastle Gang Show
and today we have just been treated by another great result for the toon…
It’s back to work for Andrea tomorrow, it is the last term of the year though…
