Us2 at U2

They may be 8 months late, its was raining and it wasn’t the finale of our honeymoon as intended but it just didn’t mater. U2 were fantastic.
We made it up to our hotel around 3.30 giving us plenty of time to relax and explore. Watson and Arnie also made it in good time and we taxied to the stadium at 6. Despite the heavy Auckland traffic and the taxi driver not knowing where the stadium was (!) we were there early with the help of Watson’s orienteering skills and a map
The warm up act, Kanye West (or however you spell it…) was mis-matched at best but the sting section of the Auckland orchestra was very impressive. Despite him.
The heavy rain was unfortunate… more so for Watson and Arnie who were not in covered seats, unlike us
We got the chance to rock and sing along to most of our favorites while Bono hammered home his messages on Religion and Poverty, all very well received and thought provoking. The visuals were great. As well as the usual dazzling lights and screens the whole back of the stage was one massive low-resolution screen. This was Arnie and Watson’s first concert… but where do you go from U2!
Time to get ready for my work Christmas party…
John and Andrea.

Concert sounded good pity about the rain but at least it must have made you feel at home!
Hope the Christmas party went well. A bit sad though as it’s really your leaving party as well (or is that for another day?)
